The Thrilling Adventure Hour is Coming Down-under
Beyond Reality Media, creators of the Armageddon Expo franchise, is excited to announce the imminent arrival of The Thrilling Adventure Hour, performing in Sydney (May 15-16) as part of The Sydney Comedy Festival, in Auckland (May 20) and Wellington (May 22-23) and a WorkJuice Improv Experience show (May 19) in Auckland as part of The New Zealand Comedy Festival.
A staged show in the style of old-time radio, The Thrilling Adventure Hour features Hollywood actors you know and love from television, comedy, animation and film, dressing nicely and enacting all manner of genre-based comedy segments.
Created by Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Marvel; DreamWorks), the show features the WorkJuice Players: Paul F. Tompkins (Comedy Bang Bang; No, You Shut Up); Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds; Community); Marc Evan Jackson (22 Jump Street; Brooklyn 99); Craig Cackowski (Drunk History; Community); Autumn Reeser (The O.C.; Entourage); Mark Gagliardi (Drunk History); Annie Savage (Second City) and Hal Lublin (Welcome to Night Vale).
Special guests Molly Quinn (Castle); Janet Varney (Legend of Korra) and Jenny Wade (The Good Guys, Hand of God; Reaper) will join the cast for New Zealand events.
Live music is also a feature of the the show, provided by Andy Paley and his orchestra including Jonathan Dinerstein and Becky Ward.
Beyond Reality Media founder and managing director Bill Geradts said he is delighted to be able to bring this event to Australasia, having seen it himself in Chicago and being inspired to bring it to New Zealand.
“The Thrilling Adventure Hour is absolutely hilarious and when we saw it in Chicago we were totally enthralled,” says Geradts.
“It is a wonderful mix of humour, music and slapstick that keeps the audience involved from start to finish.
“We see The Thrilling Adventure Hour as a natural fit with our other Armageddon Expo events, as it gives our fans a new way to interact with their favourite stars of stage and screen,” he said.
Hal Lublin says the cast are fizzing to be able to get the show Down-under. “For years, our fans abroad have been asking us when we’re going to bring the show to them. It feels great to finally have an answer for them,” says Lubin.
And when it comes to traveling half-way around the world to bring Thrilling Adventure Hour Down Under, WorkJuice Player Mark Gagliardi is “really excited”!
“This cast loves each other… I think two weeks together in another country is just what we need – to annoy each other enough that we don’t mind closing the run,” he said.
The show has also spawned a hit podcast on The Nerdist Network, an Eisner-nominated graphic novel from Archaia Entertainment/BOOM! Studios, a Nerdist web series, a highly anticipated concert film and a comic series from Image Comics.
WorkJuice Player Autumn Reeser says: “It’s been so exciting to watch our little stage show grow into a big stage show and our little podcast grow into a big podcast. How wonderful that our audience now extends around the globe and we get to travel the world to meet them!”
